LOCAL YOUNGSTERS TO HAVE THEIR SAY ON CRIME AND COMMUNITY SAFETY
Youngsters from across the city will be taking part in a series of ‘Question Time’ events, designed to give them the opportunity to challenge Police and Council officers about the issues which matter to them.
The events, which are being organised by Birmingham Community Safety Partnership, West Midlands Police and Birmingham City Council’s constituency teams, will help to shape the future of the City’s Youth Crime strategy. All of the agencies involved recognise the importance of meaningful interaction with young people, and are keen to demonstrate to youngsters that their views count.
Various schools and community venues across the city will be hosting the sessions, which are scheduled to take place between 14 October and 17 November. Feedback will be gathered from those taking part and emerging themes and areas of concern will be fed back to the City’s Youth Crime Strategic Group for consideration.
Cllr Ayoub Khan, Cabinet Member for Community Safety said, “I am delighted with the overwhelming response we have had from youngsters across the city towards this project. It is important that we create opportunities like this for young people to express their views and get answers to the questions they want to ask.'
I am committed to ensuring that Birmingham is a city in which people feel safe and young people need to understand the important role that they can play in helping us to achieve our goal”.
