9.30am - 2.30pm
Tally Ho Centre, Lord Knights Suite, Pershore Road, Birmingham
The Safer Travel Partnership will be hosting a Young Persons Transport Conference, which is open to Year 8 pupils from secondary schools across Birmingham.
Pupils will engage in a range of interactive workshops, presentations and theatre displays covering issues surrounding journey planning, sustainable travel and safer travel. This will enable pupils to have a range of tools and knowledge to travel to and from school in a safe and effective way.
Safer Travel, is a partnership between West Midlands Police, Birmingham Community Safety Partnership, bus operator National Express West Midlands, TravelWise, School Travel Plan team and Centro, the region’s passenger transport authority. The Partnership works to make bus travel even safer for passengers by deterring crime and anti-social behaviour on and around the network, as well as enabling passengers with the tools to make their journey even simpler.
“This event will provide students with the necessary information to make a journey safely as well as highlight the benefits of sustainable travel”, Rachel Hooper, Sustainable Travel Officer, Centro
“The safety of pupils is extremely important to the partnership, therefore, we will provide the delegate with the tools and knowledge to make their journeys even safer”, Kelly Rees, Safer Travel Co-ordinator, Birmingham Community Safety Partnership.
